Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services is pleased to present the 2025 Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services Annual Report. The report highlights information including services provided by the team, headquarters update, notable achievements, statistics and 2026 goals.
“Through the 2025 Annual Report, we are pleased to share the ongoing dedication and commitment Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services provides to our community,” said Lyndsey Longeway, Director/Chief of Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services. “I am incredibly proud of our team and the exceptional care, compassion and commitment they demonstrate every day.”
Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services is the sole provider of paramedic services for the County of Brant and the City of Brantford. The team consists of Administration staff, with oversight for strategic planning, operations, logistics, quality assurance and community paramedicine programs, and paramedics, comprised of both full-time and part-time staff that are on duty 24/7, 365 days a year. The care provided plays a critical role in community safety and well-being, providing pre-hospital advanced medical care, patient transport, and community paramedicine programs.
“The support and leadership of the Paramedic Services Committee, along with County and City Councils, continues to play an important role in guiding Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services in delivering excellent care to our communities,” said Cindy Stevenson, General Manager of Emergency and Protective Services for the County of Brant. “The professionalism, resilience and dedication of our paramedic team make a meaningful difference, and their commitment to serving our residents has a positive impact throughout the County and City.”
Highlights of the 2025 report include:
Performance
Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services Paramedics Responded to 33,866 Potential Patient Carrying Calls in 2025; this represents a 20% since 2021 (27,219 calls).
Paramedic Services Headquarters Update
After several years of planning, the Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services construction on the headquarters project is now well underway. Since taking occupancy of the Phase 1 space in September 2025, all administrative staff have successfully transitioned into the new space. The facility now supports all training and meeting needs, and the Service looks forward to welcoming the remainder of the team under one roof. Phase 2 includes new construction of the garage and active ambulance base, completion is expected to be by the third quarter of 2026.
Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS)
The Service transitioned to the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) in November 2025, marking an important improvement in how 911 medical calls are managed. MPDS is an internationally recognized triage system that helps ensure paramedics are sent first to the most urgent emergencies, that resources match each patient’s medical needs, and that crews can return to service quickly after a call.
Governor General’s Awards
Congratulations to Paramedics Mark Schouten and Marie Sopko on receiving the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal, awarded in honour of more than 20 years of exceptional service.
Community Paramedicine
Community Paramedicine continues to play an integral role in maximizing efficiencies in patient care and resources by allowing specially trained paramedics to apply their education and skills beyond the traditional role of emergency medical response. Services are provided to patients, often in their homes or community settings, where early intervention and ongoing support can make a significant difference. This team provides ongoing public education, with the goal of reducing unnecessary emergency department visits and admissions.
Key metrics are highlighted in the report including outreach and educational interactions, medical orders ranging from blood procedures and IV starts to vaccinations.
Community Engagement
The Community Paramedicine team was able to provide a special Toronto Blue Jays game request for a young man in palliative care through the WISH program. They were also able to partner with Six Nations Paramedic Services to provide a palliative care patient with the opportunity to visit a golf course.
The Paramedic Services team participated in a wide range of community events throughout 2025 including the 2025 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games, Hike for Hospice, Superhero Day and many others.
911 Reminder
Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services, along with our partners in fire and police services remind our communities of the importance of using 911 responsibly. Approximately half of 911 calls received are non-emergencies. Every non-emergency call can tie up critical resources that could be helping someone in a life-threatening situation. Through continued public education, we aim to reduce the number of non-emergency calls made to 911 – ensuing faster, more effective responses when every second counts. In 2026, Brant-Brantford Paramedic Service looks forward to several key advancements that will strengthen service delivery, enhance patient care, and support staff across the organization.
