Construction Notice: Broadway Street West and West River Street Reconstruction

The Broadway Street West Reconstruction project includes sewer and watermain replacement along with full road surface reconstruction with the addition of a roadside, multi-use path along Broadway Street West as well as completion of the remaining portion of West River Street reconstruction.

Work will begin with repairs to the storm sewer outlet channel between Broadway Street West and the Nith River at Penman’s Pass.

When?

• Thursday, September 24, 2026, through to early summer 2028

Why?

• Infrastructure upgrade and roadway improvements.

Changes during construction period?

• Intersection impacts: Initially intersections will not be impacted but look for future updates throughout the project.
• Road or sidewalk impacts: Road and sidewalks will not be impacted as part of the first stage of the work but look for future updates throughout the project.
• Detour routes: None
• Noise/light: Heavy equipment and dump trucks will be operating in the area in compliance with the Noise By-law.
• Parking: Half of the Penman’s Pass parking lot off Broadway St West will be closed for use by the Contractor as a staging area for the work.
• Access (personal driveways, services or amenities): Stair access to the Penman’s Pass trail and bridge will be closed. Paved trail access will remain open, but pedestrians are cautioned as this route will be used for access by heavy construction equipment. A spotter will travel with the construction equipment when moving or working on the trail.
• Garbage: No impacts.
