National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The County of Brant invites community members to join us for a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Flag Raising Ceremony on Tuesday, September 29.

This ceremony provides an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of residential schools, honour Survivors, their families and communities, and reaffirm our shared commitment to truth, reconciliation, and meaningful action. All are welcome to attend as we come together in remembrance, reflection, and respect.⁠

⁠Wear Orange on September 30⁠
On September 30, we encourage community members to wear orange to honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the ongoing importance of truth and reconciliation.⁠

In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the County of Brant will also light Penmans Dam orange beginning Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

On Wednesday, September 30, the County of Brant will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this day, several County of Brant services will be impacted.

County of Brant Customer Service Offices:

• County of Brant customer service offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 30 and will re-open on Thursday, October 1 at 8:30 am. 
• Online chat will be unavailable at this time. 
• A number of services are available online. Visit the Online Services webpage for a complete list. 
• For urgent matters, call 519.44BRANT (519.442.7268), 1.855.44BRANT and stay on the line to be transferred.

County of Brant Community Centres and Arenas:

• All Community Centres are closed for daily programming and rentals Wednesday, September 30.
• After School Programs held at County community centres will remain open and run as scheduled.

County of Brant Fire Administration:

• County of Brant Fire Administration office at 61 Dundas Street E will be closed on Wednesday, September 30. 
• Regular hours will resume on Thursday, October 1.  

County of Brant Public Library:

• All County of Brant Public Library branches will be closed on Wednesday, September 30. 
• Regular hours will resume on Thursday, October 1.

Building Division:

·       No building inspections will take place on Wednesday, September 30.

• Inspection requests received before 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29 will be scheduled for Thursday, October 1. 
• Inspection requests received after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29 will be scheduled for Friday, October 2.

• Regular curbside collection will occur on Wednesday, September 30.
• Please place your waste at the curb by 7:00 am.

• The Biggars Lane Landfill and Paris Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, September 30.  
• Regular hours will resume on Thursday, October 1.
