The County of Brant invites residents to participate in The Grand Snowplow Naming Contest

Five snowplows. Five wards. Five new names.

The County is inviting residents of all ages to participate in The Grand Snowplow Naming Contest by submitting their best, funniest and most creative names for five County snowplows, with one plow representing each of the County’s five wards.

Beginning September 9, residents can submit one name for the snowplow representing the ward where they live. Names can be clever, funny or uniquely Brant, as long as they meet the contest rules and fit within the 20-character limit.

“Our Roads team takes a lot of pride in the work they do to keep people moving safely throughout the winter, and we thought this would be a fun way for residents to connect with the people and equipment behind that work,” said the County of Brant’s Director of Roads, Greg Demers. “We are looking forward to seeing the creativity from each of our five wards and, of course, seeing the winning names out on the roads this winter.”

Residents have until Friday, October 9, 2026, to submit a name. Once submissions close, County staff will review eligible entries and create a shortlist for each ward.

Then it is back to the community to vote for their favourites!

From Monday, October 26 to Friday, November 6, County residents can vote for their favourite shortlisted names in all five wards. The five winning names, one from each ward, will be announced Monday, November 9.

And there are some serious bragging rights involved.

Each winning name will be displayed on a County snowplow. Winners will also receive a road sign featuring their plow’s new name and an invitation to meet members of the Roads team, take a photo with the newly named plow and enjoy hot chocolate and treats before the winter season gets underway.

To participate, residents must have an Engage Brant account and submit a name for the ward where they live. Each person may submit one name.
