County of Brant Attends Annual AMO Conference to Advocate for Community Priorities
From August 16 to 19, 2026, Mayor David Bailey, Councillor Ella Haley and County of Brant staff, attended the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa.
The annual AMO Conference brings together municipal leaders from across the province, providing them with the opportunity to meet directly with provincial ministries to discuss matters of importance to their municipality, while also participating in workshops and hearing from keynote speakers on significant topics across the municipal landscape.
“I look forward to the AMO Conference every year and the important opportunity it provides to County Council and staff,” said Mayor David Bailey. ”Not only are we able to meet with Ministry leaders, but we also have the chance to connect with Council and staff from communities across the province, many facing similar situations to Brant. These are opportunities for us to learn from each other, sharing both our successes and challenges. Attending my final AMO Conference as Mayor of the County of Brant held special significance for me.”
As noted, AMO provides the opportunity for Council and staff to attend delegation meetings, allowing them to engage with provincial leaders on local matters that are of importance to the County of Brant.
2026 Delegation Meetings included:
- Ministry of Transportation – Regarding construction of Highway 403 and Bishopsgate Road Interchange
- Ministry of Energy and Mines – Information on the Third Phase of the Natural Gas Expansion Program (NGEP)
“Council remains committed to advocating for the needs of our community,” said Mayor Bailey. “Delegation opportunities at AMO allow us to put a spotlight on Brant, advance important priorities and work toward solutions that support those who live, work and visit the County of Brant, now and for generations to come.”
While at AMO, the County also participated in advocacy sessions alongside the South-Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corporation (SCOR EDC) and the Western Ontario Wardens Caucus (WOWC), which included the Honourable Victor Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
