Official Plan Amendment
The County of Brant Council has passed By-law No. 17-26 on February 10, 2026, pursuant to the provisions of Section 17(23) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended.
The purpose of this amendment is to introduce alternative public notification and engagement measures for informing and obtaining the views of the public about Planning Act applications, namely Official Plan amendments, Zoning By-law amendments, Plans of Subdivision, and Consents in accordance with Sections 17(19.3), 34(14.3), 51(19.3.1), and 53(4.3) of the Planning Act. This amendment provides the policy framework necessary to establish alternative measures that reflect local priorities, emerging best practices, and changes in how the public accesses information and participates in the planning process. The amendment will assist in enabling more meaningful and upfront public engagement, support a more consistent and transparent development approval process, and improve the effective use of County resources.
